The Airports of Regions holding, part of Renova Group, will daily prepare more than 3,000 free three-meal rations for aged people older than 65 who stay at home under quarantine because of COVID-19 coronavirus. Koltsovo airport also takes part in this noble endeavour.
Despite the challenging economic situation of the civil aviation industry as a whole and the losses incurred by the airports, the holding tries to contribute to the general effort of fighting the pandemic and overcoming its consequences. The initiative is informed by the desire to help the most vulnerable group and will be realized together with volunteers and social security agencies which will list specific recipients and ensure the delivery. The action will last at least till April 15 as long as the lockdown for elderly people is in force.
The catering service of Koltsovo airport will daily produce rations including breakfast, lunch and dinner for lonely retired residents of Sverdlovsk Region. The given group is in need of help more than other people, because of home confinement and because they have no close kin to support them.
Airports such as Kurumoch (Samara), Strigino (Nizhny Novgorod) and Platov (Rostov-on-Don) also take part in this initiative to support elderly people. The rations produced by catering services of those airports could be a considerable contribution to providing full-fledged hot meals for aged people in need.
We should remind that with a view to the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Russia, most regional administrations including in the Sverdlovsk region were bound to introduce a stay-at-home regime for citizens older than 65 at their domicile or in other premises such as private homes and dachas. Social security agencies are made responsible for supporting people staying at home if the latter have any problems with buying medicines and foods.
